Mixed media monoprints
“Quonset” is the simple geometric building form I’m currently working with as part of a series called “Vintage Industrial”. With the other early industrial buildings in this series, I’ve explored surface treatments suggesting disintegration and impurities (details shown below). In contrast, Quonsets have evoked pictorial imagery (tryptic shown below).
Photographing industrial buildings from the 1920′s to the 1940′s is the way I begin looking at structures, surfaces, and surroundings that have been acted on by man and nature over time. I use this photography as a springboard to experiment with textural effects and interactive zones. The pictorial imagery in “Quonset” has been informed by the
internet.
