I began painting as an abstract or non-representational painter. Soon my fascination with my ancestors, family history, and family dynamics found its way onto the canvas. Despite occasional detours, that interest remains the inspiration for my creative work. I have painted a series of very large portraits of my ancestors. My recent portraits are smaller and more intimate in expression. I am also creating a website to preserve and share my ancestors’ amazing stories.

I studied art at Pomona College and later the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC.  I have mentored girls in the arts and have offered classes at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. In addition to my painting, I facilitate The Work of Byron Katie, which is a simple method for questioning the thoughts that cause mental stress and suffering. This Work serves as a rich counterpoint to my creative expression and somehow deepens it.
